Wednesday evening - SLOW DOWN a gentle approach to yoga for somatic healing, rest and recovery

  • Light Yoga Space Zoom London (map)

All classes through Light Yoga Space share the same goals, to create accessible, non-competitive, safe, welcoming, online, community yoga classes that prioritise the needs of people with diverse and marginalised body types.

You are welcome to have your cameras on or off. If your camera is on you will get more personal guidance. If your camera is off you can enjoy privacy and anonymity.

Class numbers tend to be small and friendly usually between 2-5 people, although nobody will be turned away.

1hr

These slow and restful classes are inspired by Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Classical Hatha Yoga in the Sivananda Tradition.

We will very loosely follow a Sivanada class sequence, whilst adapting pace, pose and sometimes sequence to further encourage somatic healing and connection. We will practice some movement, some classical poses, some restorative poses, and some yoga Nidra style guided relaxation. Holding restorative poses still with the body completely held by cushions, pillows and bolsters means no muscles need to work at all to hold us in position, this enables us to let go, and readily slip into deep relaxation

You will find props really helpful for these classes but that doesn’t mean you have to run out and buy expensive gear.

Bolsters are ideal and designed for purpose however we tend to have so much around the home that we can also use, such as pillows, sturdy cushions, pillow cases filled with clothes, folded blankets and so on. Just make sure you have something as sturdy as a bolster to get the full benefit of these sessions even if that means gathering lots of pillows and cushions and folded blankets that you can pile up for support
